Poetic wayfinding

Poetic structures are based on—but not equal to—poetry. Think: turning the line or rhythm. I used my knowledge of collaborative methods to create a design workshop, and help a group of designers explore how poetic structures could inform wayfinding.
I led the workshop during ‘Design with a view’ event in Firenze (IT).

Workshop & the methods

During ‘Design with a view’ event I led my ‘Poetic wayfinding’ workshop. I intended for this event to spark experimentation—thanks to the topic, and the methods.
Here are selected examples of how the workshop was structured, and why.

Some food for thought?

Before the participants would advance to the main task of the workshop, I gave them some food for thought: a short lecture on how poetic structures can inform wayfinding design. It was based on my professional practice and my Master thesis (2012) at Central Saint Martins.

In the mood for creativity?

Being creative on accord can be hard. I introduced a few other short excercises, to set the mood for the main creative event: proposing a poetic wayfinding solution in and around the space of Pensione Bencista in Firenze.
I described these methods in detail when completing my teaching qualification in Art & Design for Higher Education at UAL. I shared a few here as an example.

Thank you, Think Benci!
